Dokumentation „Solingen ’93 – der 30. Jahrestag“

Das Museum Zentrum für verfolgte Künste hat das Gedenken am 30. Jahrestag des rechtsextremen Anschlags auf die Familie Genç filmisch dokumentiert. Teil der Veranstaltungen war die Eröffnung der Ausstellung „Solingen ’93 – Unutturmayacağız! Niemals vergessen!“ im Zentrum für verfolgte Künste.
Zur Ausstellungseröffnung sprachen unter anderem Claudia Roth, Staatsministerin für Kultur und Medien, Tim Kurzbach, Oberbürgermeister von Solingen und Cem Özdemir, Bundesminister und Vorsitzender des Kuratoriums der Ausstellung. Özlem Genç sprach bei der Einweihung des Mevlüde-Genç-Platzes am 28. Mai ebenso wie bei der städtischen Gedenkfeier im Theater und Konzerthaus am 29. Mai 2023 im Namen ihrer Familie. Auch Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier fand hier eindrucksvolle Worte.
Der Film vermittelt diverse Perspektiven und Forderungen an die Erinnerungskultur in einer Einwanderungsgesellschaft, nicht zuletzt von der am 30. Oktober 2022 verstorbenen Mevlüde Genç, die wir für unser Haus als Auftrag verstehen.

Wir freuen uns auch, dass das Stadtarchiv Solingen die Ausstellung „Solingen ’93“ mit einem 360°-Rundgang durch das Unternehmen Excit3D GmbH dokumentieren lassen hat. So haben wir die Möglichkeit, diesen Raum der Begegnung und Erinnerung dauerhaft offen zu halten.
